Leisure and the over 50's

The purpose of this paper is to review the state of the art of research into leisure and the elderly. To this end, the focus is on those aged over 50 in order to set the issues in the general context of aging, rather than concentrating on the retired only. It is, however, to the retired that most of the research initatives have been directed; comparatively little consideration has been given to those between the age of 50 and retirement.
