Urban sociology

Wilson, R.A., & Schulz, D.A. (1978). Urban sociology. Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey: Prentice-Hall, Inc..

Teachers of urban sociology have long recognized the need for a book which integrates a sociological frame of reference with the analysis of the problems of cities. The authors have attempted to write a book which allows the reader to employ this orientation as he ponders the issues which arise in a rapidly urbanizing world. Besides covering the traditional elements of urban sociology, they have included chapters on the neighborhood, crime, housing, community, and world urbanization. These are intended to examine the issues from the viewpoint of the sociologist, as well as to draw from other disciplines and perspectives whenever necessary. This book reflects the conviction that the practice of urban sociology should be an interesting, even vibrant undertaking.
