National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) (2012). Walking and cycling: local measures to promote walking and cycling as forms of travel or recreation, NICE public health guidance 41. Manchester, UK: National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has produced new guidance urging people to travel on foot or bike rather than by car for short journeys. The advisory body has called on local authorities to make walking and cycling an easier option in local communities to facilitate the use of these as a means of travel. These include bicycle-hire schemes, car-free events and better cycle-route signalling and maps.
