The '2013 State of the UK Fitness Industry Report' highlights that fitness has bounced back to higher growth rates after a slowdown in 2011 and 2012. The private sector has more sites, members and higher penetration than ever before. The public sector also shows positive results. However the growth becomes at a price. The so called low cost operators are having an impact on both average monthly membership fees and, of course, the yield per member across the industry. The are also beginning to have an impact on the structure of the market with the growth coming largely from the non-multipurpose clubs.
