an analysis of the contribution of grassroots football to the nation's economy and wellbeing
Birdsall-Strong, L., Watt, W., Lawton, R., Trotter, L., & Gramatki, I. (2019). The social and economic value of adult grassroots football in England: an analysis of the contribution of grassroots football to the nation's economy and wellbeing. The Football Association.
This report shows the contribution of adult grassroots football to the nation’s economy and to the wellbeing of society. The Football Association's (FA) survey of approximately 9,000 respondents provides a nationally representative sample that allows for robust statistical analysis. This is the largest study of this type to date for a National Governing Body in the United Kingdom. This provides The FA’s first estimate of the value of football in monetary terms, which offers compelling evidence of the economic impact and value of adult grassroots football in England.
