Inequalities in health are a major challenge for public health in the European Union. Although the nature of health inequalities differs within EU member states, all face a health gap between the lowest and the highest socio-economic groups. The aim of the project Closing the Gap: Strategies for Action to Tackle Health Inequalities in Europe is to develop a European knowledge base and infrastructure in order to implement and strengthen strategies and actions to reduce health inequalities.
