Dr Hendry aims to provide an understanding of adolescents and their leisure interests by considering a number of themes and contexts: he intoduces the reader to the relevant findings of social scientists, mainly in the past two decades. All of the main theories about adolescence are discussed. Leisure is studied in terms of age, sex, social class, sub-cultural values and educational attainment. Dr. Henry suggests a number of general principles from which new theories may be constructed and around which future research might be designed.
