This handbook is intented for consultation by public and private bodies seeking information on training and the practice of sport in the eighteen member countries of the Council for Cultural Co-operation. Part 1 deals with public organisations, first of all at Governmental level; administrative structure and functions; laws and regulations applicable to the central authorities; and departmental budgets. Further on, the intermediate and municipal levels are examined. Coming to private organisations, the handbook lists certain international associations, the Olympic committees, and federations. The main subject of the book is the training of instructors. Part III contains a study of physical education training courses for the various categories of the teaching profession, as well as a list of colleges where such courses are given in each country. Later sections cover the activities and plans of Council of Europe's member countries and mention some of the chief periodical publications.
